About the Film: Father of a young man with Down Syndrome, Jean-François Martin, teacher at Cégep du Vieux Montreal and author of Together to the top: the incredible feat of six adults with trisomy 21, had the idea of accompanying six young adults with Down syndrome and six special education students to get to Machu Picchu and provide humanitarian aid to Peruvian families. Narrated by Jean-Marie Lapointe, who was also taking part in the project, the documentary by Marcotte Lisette has many moments of pure emotion. On the one hand, we are seduced by the majesty of the historic sites, and on the other hand, one can only bow to the courage, perseverance, and love of life of the participants. The result is a vibrant lesson in humanity.

About Jean-François: Mr. Martin is Professor of Special Education Technology at Cégep du Vieux-Montreal. He is the instigator of the Peru Challenge project that gave life to the film Trisomy 21: Le Défi Pérou and has also published three books on intellectual disabilities.

In 1996, Mr. Martin was awarded the Gala-Challenge award for involvement in the associative movement in intellectual disabilities. He was handed the Challenge Awards Gala for the family of the decade in 2000. In 2009, Mr. Martin received an honorable mention from the Quebec Association of Collegiate Education for excellence and professionalism. His article, Life with a child with trisomy, earned him the Media Award from the Canadian Association for Community Living.
